The field of application of the riverboards is not - as is the case with the conventional surfboards - on some distant coast, but right on your doorstep. Riverboards are driven either on rivers or in action sports halls, provided there is a standing wave. Standing waves can be created artificially or form naturally through certain obstacles in the area of the riverbed. The big advantage of these waves is that they are weather independent, have a constant potential and thus can be used permanently. With a designated River Surfboard from our surf shop you are guaranteed to be well equipped to take a trip to the next standing wave in your environment.
What distinguishes the riverboards from classic Malibu surfboards are, above all, the size, shape and height of the volume. Riverboards are designed to withstand strong shaft pressure while delivering a vibrant, reactive performance. Their basic form resembles a mix of shortboard and fishboard. The riverboards have a smaller volume because paddling in their case does not matter. Especially riverboards with a swallow tail generate an explosive acceleration as soon as you plunge into the wave. The relatively broad outline of the boards keeps them stable and controllable, so that every trick can be mastered without losing style. For an extra dose of drive and stability, the riverboards can be fitted with fins to better suit their local conditions. In the production, the surfboard manufacturers work with materials such as epoxy and fiberglass, polycarbonate and rigid foam, also used in the production of classic wood surfboards, basal woods.
Riverboards are available in different variants and for all skill levels, from beginner to professional. For beginners, a riverboard is recommended, which is designed for a low shaft pressure. In addition, beginners should be careful in their first sessions to grope with a rope device, as the wave pulls the board underfoot, if you have not yet found its balance point. For thoroughbred surfers, the Riverboards are particularly playful companions, which are easy to maneuver due to their extreme lightweight construction and encourage a creative approach. From elegant pushes to ollies, shove-its and 360's you can do a lot with a riverboard. On the pages of our online surf shop you will find a select selection of surfboards from the riverboard range of Buster, Naish, Starboard, NSP, NoveNove as well as BIC and Earth as well as Light.
